Fat Thursday

Fat Thursday has always been associated with Shrovetide, which precedes fancy dress parades and the subsequent 40-day fast.

The whole carnival period lasts from Three Kings Day to Ash Wednesday and for our ancestors it was a joyous time of great fun, weddings and dancing. They celebrated the end of winter, looked forward to the coming spring and celebrated life and food, which they still wanted to enjoy to the full. Fat Thursday traditionally marked the end of the preparations for the carnival festivities - on this day the whole village gathered for a spectacular feast, and it was traditional to eat and drink as much as possible to keep everyone strong for the whole year.

Once again, the tables were turned at Ambiente! Guests were treated to larger portions, dessert platters and bold specialties prepared just for the day.
